Nurses of Filipino origin bore the brunt of the COVID crisis in New York City during the first wave, and now are girding themselves for the new surge. A national study found that close to one third of deaths among nurses during the pandemic were among Filipino American nurses, while they only make up 4% of all nurses nationally.
