Asian Americans are Among the 70% of Essential Workers in NYC that are People of Color

This article highlights the risks that all essential workers are taking to continue to provide essential services to New York City. Black, Hispanic and Asian employees constitute 70% of this workforce, including transit workers, postal workers, and health care workers. They continue to keep New York operating while facing greater risks of contracting COVID due to the lack of protective equipment, close and multiple interactions with the public. The article reported that as of April , 27th, 71 MTA transit workers had died from COVID.
